It is impossible to sum up the illustrious career of Shaq in one article, but the numbers speak for themselves. His career faded as all great players' do, and in selfless fashion, he knew the right time to step away from the game. His 19 seasons are filled with league-leading stats, the highest of accolades, and four NBA Championships. O'Neal also won the 1992-1993 NBA Rookie of the Year, 1999-2000 NBA MVP, three consecutive NBA Finals MVP's, and seven All-NBA First Team awards. He won a gold medal in the 1994 Basketball World Championship for the US, to go along with a gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. He averaged almost 24 points and 11 rebounds per game over his career, and guided his team to the playoffs 17 times. He will forever be regarded as one of the best big-men in the history of the game, and the most dominant of his time. Shaq also was a voluntary police officer, released five rap albums, and made over a dozen movie and TV show appearances. He made just under $300 million in salary in his career, and walks away as a forever-remembered household name. His most serious and shortest press conference of his career was his retirement announcement, and just as he played the game for 19 seasons, he walks away as an honorable, respected, and fun-loving giant of a man.
